I am seriously in love with Beach House's new album. It sounds totally 90's but I'm buying the CD for people! I've noticed the last few albums I've been enjoying have the same dreamy, gauzy sound to the music and vocals. If you're in the market for a recommendation, try Atlas Sound "Logos." You wont be sorry!

Hey! Good to hear from you. I downloaded Beach House's new album the other day and have been listening to it ever since. I was searching for videos and found this one from their first album. It was captivating so I posted it. I will definitely check out Atlas Sound. I was recently introduced to Deerhunter so...it makes a lot of sense.

By the way, I am going to steal the phrase "gauzy sound." What a great description..

File this under "It's all relative," but...

...I was surprised to find out the singer of BH (Victoria LeGrande) is the niece of a French composer (Michel LeGrande) who himself scored one of my favorite films of the French New Wave "Cleo from 5 to 7" (the film, by the amazing Agnes Varda, is also one of only three French New Wave films directed by women; Marguerite Duras also directed a couple). Cleo deals with ego, identity, and mortality in a two-hour slice of a pop-star's life.

Here's a link to a clip from the film which features Michel LeGrande as the pianist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7MN7kJ0uy0

You're right -- that's a beautiful song and the slow-pan, single camera shot is pretty cool too.
